What are Botox and Fillers

What are muscle relaxing injections

Botulinum (Bocouture, Azzalure, Botox) is a toxin that is injected into the muscles to lessen the muscle activity. It does this by killing off the receptors in the muscles itself that receive the messages from the brain to tell it to move. When the muscles move they cause creases in the skin which eventually stop unfolding and cause wrinkles. So placing the botulinum ( Bocouture, Azzalure, Botox) injections in certain locations on the muscles lessens that activity and allows the skin time to unfold.

Deep creases can take longer than others to unfold and with age and sun damage the skin loses its elastic qualities and may need a little extra help to push them out with a dermal filler. Results can be seen as early as 7 days but develops over the weeks as the creases smooth out. Muscle activity is fully returned by 3 months, as new receptors will have grown, but it will take time to develop the wrinkles again. Some people last 12 months between injections, others prefer sooner, it’s depends on your age, skin integrity and personal preference.

What are dermal fillers

Fillers are injected under the skin for several reasons. To help correct the signs of aging by adding support to areas of the face that need gentle lifting. Too add plumping to areas that have lost their youthful padding over the years or simply to accentuate an area for a more aesthetically pleasing effect. The range of filler I use is called Bocouture by Merz.

It’s made from hydrolauric acid, is soft and durable and works with your own natural layer to create a very natural effect. It doesn’t feel hard or lumpy under the skin and will last around 12 -18 months depending on the area it’s been injected into.
